Soundscape in the Arts
Attention to listening and the importance of the sound environment is spreading within the different arts, and an increasing number of artists are bringing new practices into the field. Absorption and Resonance — Sound and Meaning
November 20th, 2008, NOTAM opened the sound art exhibition Absorption and Resonance at the Henie Onstad Arts Center, and published this book. The book is printed in Norwegian and English languages, and contains colorful descriptions of the art works from the exhibition, and several texts on sonic works as art forms – written by Katharine Norman, Leigh Landy, Jøran Rudi, Aeron Bergman and Steinar Sekkingstad. The book is in hardcover, with great design, photos and illustrations by Yokoland, which also received a design price from Grafill — Norwegian organization for visual communication — for the design of this book. The book was published with support from the Freedom of Expression Foundation and Arts Council Norway. |
