Yokoland has produced a particularly appealing design.

Absorption and Resonance — Sound and Meaning

November 20th, 2008, NOTAM opened the sound art exhibition Absorption and Resonance at the Henie Onstad Arts Center, and published this book.  The book is printed in Norwegian and English languages, and contains colorful descriptions of the art works from the exhibition, and several texts on sonic works as art forms – written by Katharine Norman, Leigh Landy, Jøran Rudi, Aeron Bergman and Steinar Sekkingstad.

The book is in hardcover, with great design, photos and illustrations by Yokoland, which also received a design price from Grafill — Norwegian organization for visual communication — for the design of this book.

The book was published with support from the Freedom of Expression Foundation and Arts Council Norway.

Karlheinz Stockhausen — A Pioneer in Utopia

Karlheinz Stockhausen (1928–2007) was one of the most foremost composers of the 20th century, and a pioneer within electronic music.. His artistic vision and development has influenced generations of musicians and composers, also in electronica.

The book sheds light on the connection between Stockhausen’s systematic thinking and his composition methods, and provides a unique insight into his life and work.  The book has an introduction by Jøran Rudi, and texts from Asbjørn Blokkum Flø and Asbjørn Schaathun.  The volume contains all texts in English and German as well as Norwegian, a great collection of pictures from Stockhausen’s 50-year career.

The design bureau Yokoland was awarded a price frome Grafill — Norwegian organization for visual communication — along with the above listed Absorption and Resonance.
